31 Abdullah Mohamed Al Mazrouei, newPresident of the Union of Arab Chambers and the Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry The Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce would like to warmly congratulate Abdullah Mohamed Al Mazrouei for his election as new President of the Union of Arab Chambers and the Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry beginning of August 2021. HE Abdullah Mohamed Al Mazrouei took over the presidency of the Union of Arab Chambers for the period 2021-2022, succeeding former President Muhammad Thani Al Rumaithi, after being elected by the BOD of the Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, in its 101st meeting held at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry headquarters, as the new president of the Federation of Chambers for the 2021-2024 period. The Union of Arab Chambers represent the private sector in Arab countries, that is to say, in 22 Arab countries. They also have 16 joint Chambers outside the Arab region, one of which is the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. Nowadays, the private sector in Arab Countries represents more than 75 % of the GDP, thus representing a dominant part of the economy. During the meeting, members of the Executive Office of the Council were also named, which included President Abdullah Al Mazrouei, and his Deputy: The Chairman of Sharjah Chamber Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, and the Chairman of Ajman Chamber Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Muwaiji, the Chairman of RAK Chamber Mohamed Ali Musabbeh Al Nuaimi; and Board Member of Dubai Chamber Faisal Juma Khalfan Belhoul. MOROCCO: SGS to provide product conformity assessment services to the Kingdom SGS, a strategic partner and sponsor of the ABLCC, signed a contract with the Moroccan Ministry of Industry, Trade, Green and Digital Economy (MICEVN) for the implementation of the Conformity Assessment Program on industrial products, starting 1 May 2021. The assessment program aims at verifying that the products imported to Morocco meet relevant standards and/or technical regulations. SGS, acting on behalf of the MICEVN, will provide conformity assessment services for exporters of industrial products to Morocco and issue certificates of conformity in the country of origin. The certificate is then to be transferred from the exporter to the Moroccan importer or agent and authenticated by SGS Morocco.
