On 06 October 2020, the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC) had the pleassure to arrange for its members to meet by videoconference with HE Francois Cornet d'Elzius, new Ambassador of Belgium to Egypt and Sudan, as he shared his vision on his new Mission and his core operating values.

This meeting has provided a forum for key Belgian companies, who belong to the ABLCC strong network, to get a first introduction to Ambassador Cornet d'Elzius, to identify and discuss the challenges they face, and, above all, to share their business objectives in Egypt and present the views of the Belgian business community.

Egypt has a mixed economy and over the past years a special focus has been put on improving the investment environment and restoring financial stability. Indeed, ongoing economic reform in Egypt has helped improve the country’s economy with expectations of higher growth by world financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In 2019, Harvard University’s Global Growth Projections report listed Egypt as the world’s third (and Africa’s second) fastest growing economy for the upcoming 10 years.
