Libya a land of opportunities
The Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC), in close collaboration with the Embassy of Libya in Brussels, conducted an hybrid roundtable session, on Thursday, 11 May, 2023, from 1.00 to 2.00 pm, gathering on one side H.E. François DUMONT, Ambassador of Belgium to Libya, Mr. Qaisar HIJAZIN, Secretary General of the ABLCC, Belgian official economic actors and businesses and, on the other side, HE Dr. Amel Jerary, Ambassador of Libya in Brussels, HE Mohamed Raied, Chairman of the Board of the General Libyan Union of Chambers, and Libyan official economic actors.
The main objective of the roundtable discussion was to gather concerned parties in order to restrengthen the economic relation and evaluate joint ventures and networking between Belgian and Libyan businesses and institutions.
In the course of the discussion, HE Mohamed Raied, Chairman of the Board of the General Libyan Union of Chambers, HE Dr. Amel Jerary, Ambassador of Libya in Brussels presented the actual situation in Libya along with accurate trade figures. The ongoing economic reform process, opening the way to many opportunities, was also underlined.
Furthermore, the potential of Belgo-Libyan relations was discussed and both sides agreed to follow up on this matter.
What is more, the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce expressed its willingness to host a Libyan delegation in the course of 2023 in order to present the Libyan economy and to further explore partnerships. The date of 16 June 2023 was settled to welcome this delegation in Belgium!
In a nutshell, this gathering was a good first step towards promoting dialogue and consolidating key partner relations.
