Belgo - Algerian Business Forum | 27 June 2024
On Thursday 27 June, the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, in close collaboration with the Embassy of Algeria in Brussels and the Brussels Enterprises Commerce and Industry (BECI), hosted a high level Algerian delegation on the sidelines of the Belgo-Algerian Economic Forum organized in the premises of BECI, in presence of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed El Amine BENCHERIF, Ambassador of Algeria in Brussels, Mr. Monsef MANSRI, General Consul of Algeria in Brussels, and His Excellency Mr. Alain LEROY, Ambassador of Belgium in Algeria, who honored us with his participation virtually.
Mr. Qaisar HIJAZIN, Secretary General of the ABLCC, opened the Forum by reminding the importance of the Algerian economic market with the diverse sectors it offers.
HE. Mr. Bencherif recalled the excellent bilateral relations supported by trade between the two countries, which reached a record volume of 2.7 billion euros in 2023, thus showing tangible improvements in the business climate in Algeria.
The aim of this Economic Forum was to present business and investment opportunities in Algeria. As a matter of fact, the Algerian government has taken several measures to create a more conducive environment for business, particularly in the sectors of startups, digital, clean and renewable energies, as the members of the delegation, namely Mr. Sid Ali ZERROUKI, Chief Executive Officer of Algeria Venture, Mr. Mohamed BENDIMERAD, President of Green Energy Cluster Algeria, and Mr. Omar BOUBEKEUR, Director of the decentralized branch of Sidi Bel Abbes of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), explained through their insightful presentations. The delegation was completed by Mr. Ronny STROOBANDT, Economic Diplomacy Counsellor at the Embassy of Belgium in Algeria, who presented the Belgian-Algerian Business Club (CABA - Conseil d'Affaires Belgo-Algérien).
To conclude the morning, participants had the opportunity to listen to the success stories of three Belgian companies (FIB Belgium S.A., John Cockerill, and CJ-ICM LOGISTICS) to share their successful experience on the Algerian market.
The afternoon was devoted to B2B meetings between the members of the delegation, the Embassy, and the participants. The event was a huge success with the participation of nearly a hundred Belgian and Luxembourg companies!
